“Botoxdiplomatique” by Julia Wong Kcomt

”Botoxdiplomatique” is a translation of a poem by Chinese Peruvian writer Julia Wong Kcomt from the collection Oro muerto. This poem was published in print in Issue 94 of AGNI, which includes a translation portfolio. Translated from Spanish.

AGNI is a literary magazine housed at Boston University and known “among readers around the world,” as the writers group PEN put it, “for publishing important new writers early in their careers, many of them translated into English for the first time.” The largest folio in AGNI’s five decades of publication, “Futures: An AGNI Portfolio of Work in Translation” showcases 35 translators and 37 writers of prose and poetry, from 21 languages. From homelands as far apart as Martinique, Malta, and Thailand, and eras spanning three centuries, these voices demand a reconsideration of the past as we collectively contemplate our future.
